Harley-Davidson / Buell of Utica believes strongly in being involved as a supporter of our community. Our employees, our HOG chapter members and the rest of our family of customers have a long history of giving back to our truly great community.
In July, 2006 Harley-Davidson/ Buell of Utica was selected as one of two dealers in the United States to be honored for outstanding service to their communities. The Harely-Davidson Motor Company Special Performance Award for Community Service was awarded to us on July 15, 2006 at the Worldwide Dealer Awards Dinner in San Diego, California.
Our HOG chapter, the Erie Canal chapter, is a great supporter of children’s causes. The annual “Ride for Kids” is a motorcycle ride with events nationwide to raise money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. The Utica event alone raises over $100,000. In 2006 our HOG chapter raised more money thank any other group participating in the Utica Ride For Kids. In additon, The Erie Canal Chapter raised more money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation than any other HOG chapter in the entire United States.
Also each year, Erie Canal HOG holds its annual “Toy Run” to benefit the children of the Neighborhood Center, a comprehensive human services center in Utica. During a September ride, riders donate a new unwrapped toy and in early October, they deliver them to the neighborhood center to be wrapped and given to needy children at Christmas time.
In our showroom, we have hosted the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s annual MDA lockup and have helped raise over $300,000 in support of that organization’s mission to cure 43 neuro-muscular diseases.
To benefit the Utica Rescue Mission’s efforts to fight hunger, addiction and homelessness in our community, we strongly support “Riders to the Rescue” a fall ride from Utica to Rome that has grown each year and has raised both thousands of dollars and awareness of the Mission's efforts.
Our employees (100% of them) support the United Way of Greater Utica and with an average pledge of over $130 per employee they are one of the most generous groups in the community.
We focus our support in the areas where we feel the community requires the greatest impact, namely; helping the elderly, the young and the disadvantaged. To review our complete policy on community involvement, click the link below.
